Synopsis

The key to preparing powerful slides is not having a PowerPoint expert on board. In fact, it’s not even about getting a charismatic presenter to deliver the content. If we step down one level, it’s also not about understanding the subject matter so well. It is – drum roll – about knowing what is important for your audience. After all, why would anyone want to invest their time into something unless they can get value from the time spent? And so, this workshop focuses on the thinking behind preparing slides rather than the techniques of slide creation or even styles of presentation.

All these – subject matter expert, charismatic presenter, great looking slides – are important, of course. But if we have all these but bring no value to this audience, we would have failed. By focusing on delivering value to our target audience, the tips and habits picked up from this workshop would make every presenter an effective presenter because the audience would get what they came for.

Justification

If you aspire to be a leader, you must be able to present any content with influence. When you have developed a great presentation message, you need equally great presentation material/slides to complement the content. Preparing for a presentation can help you feel more confident and improve your chances of a successful presentation, removing some of the aspects of a presentation that can lead to nervousness and performance anxiety. Since everyone will eventually need to make a presentation during the course of one’s career, it makes sense to be exposed as much as possible to great presentation preparation skills and knowing how to balance the effectiveness of the message to the quality of presentation accompanying it.
